My rating: 5 of 5 stars
I enjoyed reading this play, which surprised me a bit. More surprising to me was how many other goodreads reviewers didn't like it.
This is definitely the lightest of his plays I've ever read, and I'm good with that. I bet a good production of this would be fun to watch. As pretty much a typical reader--a retired English teacher, yes, but definitely no Shakespeare expert--I found this very readable. I liked the "No Fear" version, which I recommend, though I mostly read the original. With a little support, I think most modern readers will understand this play well. I any case, I found it entertaining in a wonderfully lowbrow way. Just the thing.
5 stars to Mr. S. :)
Now I'm encouraged to pick up others that I haven't read before, or have long since forgotten. I read "As You Like It" in about 1982--I wonder if I'll understand it better than 19-year-old me!
