This is exciting, explosive action from the first page to the last.
I don't know how he does it.
I don't have any notes. The world-building is amazing; the plot is complex and surprising, but comprehensible; the characters are engaging and sympathetic; the stakes are consistently high, but not frustrating and exhausting; and almost every chapter is great fun. Every page, probably.
I have favorite characters (okay, it's Taniel and Ka-poel) and I want to see what's up with them more than anything, but all the storylines are interesting. Every time we such POVs, jumping from story to story, I want to keep on with the one we were just following.
And that's how they get ya. :)
This is the middle book in a big fat trilogy, which can be tricky, but it never lags. 600+ pages of quick action with characters you care about. If you're wondering whether you should grab this series, I'm telling you yes, you really really should.
Recommended. Along with everything else I've read by Brian McClellan.
