My rating: 5 of 5 stars
The second in a very entertaining series.
In this one, Delilah returns to England from the Middle East, still accompanied by Selim, the Turkish lieutenant who is her friend as well as her assistant and confidant. There is still a lot of derring do in this novel, with sword fights and chases and explosions, but we also see Delilah (not her real name) with her upperclass family, trying for the sake of her investigations to fit in once again with posh society. Her family doesn't know the extent of her wanderings and her exploits, but it's actually an interesting part of the story when they do learn. It defied my predictions, in a good way. Well done.
Delilah is trying to track down a British soldier who she knows to be a spy, as he has made it look as if she was responsible for his crimes. And in the process of hunting him down, she discovers he has worse planned and needs to stop him.
This graphic novel is a bit over 260 pages and is filled with beautiful, clear art that helps tell the story. From ballrooms and drawing rooms to forests and ocean-going ships, the novel is wide-ranging and fun. Recommended.
